The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the official minimum cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to a statement posted Tuesday on the Board’s official X (formerly Twitter) page, the minimum scores are as follows: 150 for universities, 100 for polytechnics, 100 for colleges of education, and 140 for colleges of nursing sciences.

JAMB explained that the move is aimed at balancing academic standards with broader access to tertiary education. While institutions are allowed to set higher admission thresholds, they are not permitted to go below the nationally agreed minimum.

This means a university may choose to set its cut-off at 180 or more, but no university is allowed to admit a candidate who scores below 150 in the UTME. The same principle applies to polytechnics, colleges of education, and nursing schools.

The annual policy meeting is a core part of JAMB’s regulatory role, providing a platform for uniformity and fairness in the admission process across the country.
