ARISE News has announced that its late anchor, correspondent, and producer, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who was tragically killed during an armed robbery in Abuja, will soon be laid to rest.
According to the station, an “evening of tributes” will hold at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja, followed by a service of songs at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Port Harcourt. Her final interment will take place in Agulu, Anambra State, after a funeral mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Maduagwu, 29, was a lawyer, model, journalist, and television producer whose promising career was cut short when assailants invaded her home in Katampe, Abuja, killing her and a security guard, Barnabas Danlami.
Meanwhile, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command (FCT Police) has confirmed the arrest of 12 suspects linked to the crime.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed that the armed robbery gang sourced their weapons from a supplier in the Niger Republic.
“Preliminary investigations showed that the syndicate procured its firearms — including a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and a pistol — from an arms dealer operating across the Nigeria–Niger border,” Adeh said.

She added that all the suspects hail from Kaduna and Katsina States and have confessed to obtaining their weapons from a yet-to-be-identified supplier in the Niger Republic.
The Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewale, deployed a special investigation team led by DCP Aliyu Abubakar and assisted by ACP Victor Godfrey to track down and dismantle the syndicate.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring justice for Maduagwu and others affected by the attack, as investigations into the cross-border arms network continue.
