• Nollywood veteran Rita Daniel has revealed that she never approved her daughter Regina Daniels’ marriage to billionaire politician Ned Nwoko, insisting that Regina made the decision on her own.

Nollywood actress and producer Rita Daniels — the mother of popular actress Regina Daniels — has broken her silence on her daughter’s controversial marriage to billionaire and politician Senator Ned Nwoko, revealing she never supported the union from the start.

In a resurfaced interview with BBC Igbo conducted on October 7, 2025, Rita Daniels dismissed widespread claims that she orchestrated the marriage between her daughter and the much older businessman.

According to her, Regina made the choice herself and proceeded with the relationship without her knowledge.

“I never wanted my daughter to marry Ned Nwoko, but she insisted. I didn’t even know when they started their relationship,” Rita Daniels said.

She continued:

“People often heap the blame on me for being the one who facilitated their marriage, but that’s untrue. Still, I’d rather take the blame than let them blame her for any bad decisions.”

The old BBC interview has gone viral again amid renewed public interest in Regina’s marriage, following domestic violence allegations that recently surfaced online.

While some social media users believe Rita’s statement, others have accused her of not being truthful.

One user, identified as Amaka, commented:

“She’s lying. Pa Ned said you brought Regina to his house with her siblings. He also said they got married within three weeks. Gina was 18 then, not 21. Anyway, it’s your family matter.”

Another commenter added:

“Big lie, Mama. Pa Ned said you introduced her to him.”

The renewed interview comes amid reports that Regina Daniels allegedly moved out of her marital home following claims of physical abuse — allegations which Ned Nwoko has publicly denied.

In his response, the politician accused Regina of battling substance and alcohol abuse, claiming that her brother and a close friend have been enabling the behavior.
