- The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 officers in what it described as part of ongoing internal reforms aimed at restoring discipline and integrity within the agency.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the dismissal of 115 personnel as part of its ongoing internal reforms and efforts to rid the agency of corruption and misconduct.
In a statement posted on its official X (Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the DSS said the affected officers were dismissed over a period of time, stressing that the move is part of broader organizational reforms aimed at improving professionalism and accountability within the service.
“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services, the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.
The agency also issued a public warning against dealing with former operatives who continue to pose as serving DSS officials to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

“Despite earlier disclaimers issued on two dismissed operatives — Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin — some former staff continue to parade themselves as personnel of the service,” the statement added.

The DSS advised Nigerians to avoid any form of official dealings with such individuals, emphasizing that their identities have been published on the agency’s official website for transparency.
In October, the DSS had previously released disclaimers on Donald and Godwin, who were alleged to have used the agency’s name to defraud members of the public. The two men have since been arrested and are awaiting prosecution, according to the security agency.
The DSS reiterated its commitment to institutional discipline, ethical service delivery, and the eradication of impostors tarnishing its reputation.
