WATCH: Super Falcons Thrash Egypt 6-2 to Reach WAFCON Quarter-Finals

• Nigeria’s Super Falcons cruised into the quarter-finals of the 2026 WAFCON after hammering Egypt 6-2, with Asisat Oshoala, Gift Monday, Uchenna Kanu, Christy Ucheibe, Rasheedat Ajibade and Joy Omewa all getting on the scoresheet.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after an emphatic 6-2 victory over Egypt in their final Group C match on Wednesday night.

Needing a win to avoid an early exit following their shock opening defeat to Malawi, the defending champions delivered a dominant attacking display at the Rabat Olympic Stadium to secure qualification for the knockout stage.

Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 21st minute before Gift Monday doubled Nigeria’s advantage in first-half stoppage time after a fine assist from Rinsola Babajide.

Egypt pulled one back through Nadine Ghazi’s penalty deep into added time, but the Super Falcons took complete control after the break.

Uchenna Kanu restored Nigeria’s two-goal cushion in the 57th minute after another assist from Babajide, before Christy Ucheibe converted a penalty to make it 4-1.

Ghazi grabbed her second goal of the night for Egypt in the 84th minute, but Rasheedat Ajibade responded with another penalty in stoppage time before setting up Joy Omewa to complete the rout with Nigeria’s sixth goal.

The convincing victory saw Nigeria finish the group stage with six points after recovering from their opening loss with back-to-back wins over Zambia and Egypt.

In the other Group C fixture, Malawi defeated Zambia 2-1 to finish top of the group, while Zambia crashed out despite ending the campaign with six points. Egypt finished bottom after losing all three matches.

The Super Falcons now advance to the quarter-finals with renewed confidence as they continue their quest for another continental title.
