VIDEO: Residents Flee in Panic as Multiple Explosions Rock Abuja Near Filling Station

• Residents fled in panic after multiple explosions were reported near Shafa Filling Station in Abuja’s Apo Bridge area, with emergency responders battling the resulting fire.

Residents around the Apo Bridge area of Abuja were thrown into panic on Thursday night after multiple explosions were reported near Shafa Filling Station, close to Rita Lori Hotel in the Garki area.

The blasts triggered fear and confusion among motorists and residents, many of whom fled the area as thick smoke and flames were seen at the scene.

An eyewitness, Jason Akande, said he initially feared the incident was a bomb attack after hearing several loud explosions.

“It just exploded. I thought it was a bomb blast. I heard about seven explosions,” he said.

Following the incident, officials of the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service arrived at the scene and immediately commenced emergency response operations to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of the explosions had not been officially confirmed, while there was no immediate information on casualties or the extent of the damage.

Security agencies and emergency responders remained at the scene as authorities advised residents and motorists to avoid the area to allow rescue and firefighting operations to continue uninterrupted.

An official statement from the relevant authorities was still being awaited.
