Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has publicly addressed the controversy surrounding her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, defending her mother and vowing to focus on her children amid a storm of online criticism and family allegations.
For the first time since controversy erupted online, Regina Daniels has opened up about the turmoil surrounding her marriage to Senator Ned Nwoko, dismissing rumours of family conflict and financial motives, while passionately defending her mother, Rita Daniels.
The actress, who shared an emotional video on Instagram on Wednesday, addressed weeks of speculation following a viral clip on October 18 that spiralled into allegations of drug use and reports of her family members’ alleged arrest.

“Please Stop Insulting My Mom”
In the emotional clip, Daniels expressed the toll recent controversies have taken on her mental health.
“Tell me why everyone else is sleeping while I can’t. I’m not going to cry. You don’t do that in front of the camera. This means I’m tough, and I’m not crying,” she said, fighting back tears.
Appealing to the public, she pleaded:
“Hey guys, please stop insulting my mom, I beg you. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She’s my God on earth. For seven years, my mom held it down. You all insulted her, but she tried. She warned me. My brothers warned me. Everybody did.”
Daniels revealed that her family initially opposed her marriage to Ned Nwoko but that she went ahead because she was in love.
“Everyone said no. My mom warned me, my brothers were fighting, breaking bottles. I even went to the police station and said, ‘Arrest me! My family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life,’” she recounted.

“I Didn’t Marry for Money”
The actress also addressed long-standing rumours that her mother pushed her into the marriage for financial gain.
“You all should stop saying I got married out of greed. Excuse me — we were not broke! What amount of money can a man give to a mother who already has a child providing for the whole family?” she said.

Daniels explained that she had been the breadwinner for her family even before marriage.
“Through me, my mom trained all her children. I was a blessing to her, and God used me to settle her,” she added.
“I’ll Raise My Children With or Without Support”
In her heartfelt speech, Daniels turned her focus to her two sons — Munir (born 2020) and Khalifa (born 2022) — promising to protect and raise them regardless of any marital issues.
“I’m going to fight for my children. I’ll take them, train them, and raise them with or without your support,” she declared.
Despite the pain and rumours, the actress maintained that she still respects her husband.
“I did fall in love, and I still care and respect him. That’s love — care and respect. The only reason I’m not fighting you, Ned, is that I want Mona and Khalifa’s father’s name to remain strong. But they can take mine,” she said.
The actress’s candid confession comes amid widespread social media speculation about her marriage and family life. Her video has since gone viral, sparking debates across Instagram, Twitter, and major entertainment blogs in Nigeria.
