  • Senator Ned Nwoko has disputed recent social media posts made by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, concerning their children, insisting that they have not been hidden from her and that her absence has been by choice.

Nwoko stated that the matter has already been addressed by a court, which directed Daniels to undergo rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before her access to the children can be restored.

In a statement released on Tuesday by his communications team via his official X account, the senator described Daniels’ online posts as “misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice.”

“The recent posts by Regina present a version of events that is both misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice. Publicly sharing moments involving the children has never been new, unusual, or controversial within the family,” the statement read.

It further dismissed claims that Daniels had been prevented from being involved in the children’s lives, describing such suggestions as “equally misleading.”

According to Nwoko, the children have always been raised in an environment that prioritises routine, emotional balance, and stability. He stressed that parental responsibility requires emotional presence and mental stability.

“Children deserve a parent who is emotionally present, mentally sound, and sober most of the time. This is not an unreasonable expectation; it is the minimum standard of care any parent owes their children,” the statement added.

The clarification followed a post shared by Daniels on Monday, where she spoke about the pain of being separated from her children, saying no mother could be at peace under such circumstances. She wrote, “I may be young, but I am such a mum, I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum. I will definitely see my kids soon!”

Responding, Nwoko reiterated that the court had already ruled on the issue. He said the decision was resolved in his favour, with clear directives that Daniels must undergo drug rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access can be restored to their children, Munir (5) and Khalifa (3).

He added that the case has been adjourned to February 4, 2026, for hearing of the substantive suit.

Nwoko urged Daniels to comply fully with the court’s directives, cautioning that continued online commentary risks “using the children as emotional shields to deflect from unresolved personal issues.” He emphasised that the most responsible path forward remains compliance with the rehabilitation process and a demonstrated commitment to sustained personal wellness.

Concluding, the senator expressed hope that the period ahead would be used for healing rather than renewed online controversy, stating, “It is our hope that this window of quietude will be used for healing and recovery, rather than generating another cycle of online attention.”
