- The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has instructed its members to prioritise buying petrol from Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has issued a nationwide directive for its members to prioritise the purchase of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from Dangote Petroleum Refinery.
In a statement, IPMAN National President Abubakar Maigandi Shettima said the decision was motivated by the refinery’s competitive pricing and the strategic need to strengthen Nigeria’s domestic refining capacity.
“I am calling on all IPMAN members nationwide to prioritise patronising the Dangote Refinery in their purchase of PMS products, as they already offer the most affordable price for marketers today,” he said.

The directive is part of a broader initiative aimed at reducing reliance on imported fuel while supporting local production. IPMAN, which oversees more than 80 per cent of petrol retail outlets in Nigeria, noted that continued fuel importation undermines the domestic market.

The move also comes ahead of a major logistics upgrade by Dangote Refinery. Starting January 2026, the refinery is expected to supply PMS directly to registered IPMAN members, including free delivery to filling stations across the country.
According to IPMAN, this initiative will enhance supply efficiency, stabilise fuel distribution, and potentially lead to lower pump prices for consumers, reinforcing Nigeria’s push for a more self-reliant petroleum sector.
