  • The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has outlined how Nigerians can report fraud cases and financial crimes through its online petition portal, warning that false petitions could attract up to 10 years in prison.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has explained how members of the public can submit petitions alleging fraud and other financial crimes through its online portal.

According to the anti-graft agency, petitioners must provide accurate and truthful information, warning that filing a false petition is a criminal offence punishable under Nigerian law.

The EFCC stated that Section 64(3) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000 prescribes a penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment or a fine of up to ₦100,000 for anyone found guilty of submitting a false petition.

To submit a petition online, applicants are required to provide the following information:

Petitioners must provide a detailed account of the alleged fraud or financial crime in the designated petition section of the online form.

Supporting Documents

While optional, the EFCC encourages users to upload evidence to support their claims.
