Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has completed a return to South African club Chippa United, five months after leaving the side.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper rejoins the Chilli Boys ahead of the 2026/27 season after spending several months without competitive football following his departure in February 2026—a spell that affected his place in Nigeria’s senior national team.
Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return in a statement shared on its official social media pages on Sunday.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome @nwabali32 back to the Chilli Boys,” the club announced.
In a follow-up post, the club added:
“After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
Nwabali initially joined Chippa United in 2022 before establishing himself as one of Nigeria’s top goalkeepers with his outstanding performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Super Eagles finished runners-up.
His absence from club football in recent months limited his playing opportunities and saw him lose his place in the Super Eagles.
The experienced shot-stopper will now be hoping to revive his career with regular first-team football as he targets a return to Nigeria’s national team ahead of upcoming international competitions.
