The body of a landlady who had been missing for several days has been found in a 30-foot soakaway pit in her neighbour’s compound in Umueleghele, Isialangwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Residents began searching for the woman after she went missing. Community sources alleged that she had been involved in a land dispute, but police have yet to establish the circumstances of her death.
Abia State Commissioner of Police Wilfred Afolabi confirmed the discovery on Friday while briefing journalists on the command’s activities since September 11. He said the investigation was ongoing.
