- President Bola Tinubu has assured Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he will not regret embracing reconciliation, praising his role in efforts to resolve the Rivers political crisis.

President Bola Tinubu has assured Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara that his decision to embrace reconciliation following the state’s political crisis will not be regretted.
Tinubu gave the assurance on Saturday, November 7, during a presidential campaign rally at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.
The president praised Fubara’s maturity and willingness to accept the intervention of political elders in the disagreement involving his predecessor, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
“Fubara, you will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” Tinubu said.
The rally was organised by the Wike-led Rainbow Coalition, bringing political leaders and supporters together ahead of the 2027 elections.
Earlier, Fubara pledged to mobilise at least three million votes for Tinubu’s re-election. He affirmed his participation in the coalition and acknowledged Wike’s leadership.
The governor also thanked Tinubu for his intervention during the crisis, presenting his support for the president as a response to that assistance.
Tinubu separately commended Wike’s contributions to infrastructure development, describing the FCT minister as a development partner of his administration.
The public assurances followed months of efforts to repair political relationships in Rivers. In October, Wike, Fubara and APC governorship candidate Kingsley Chinda held talks in Port Harcourt alongside their supporters to strengthen reconciliation.
The dispute had previously escalated into a confrontation between the governor and state lawmakers. Tinubu imposed emergency rule in March 2025, suspending Fubara and the legislature.
The emergency period ended in September 2025, allowing the governor and lawmakers to resume their duties after six months.
