The Department of State Services (DSS) has confirmed the alleged plot by some politician to install an interim government contrary to the demand of constitution.

VerseNews Nigeria reports that the DSS spokesman, Peter Afunanya, in a statement on Wednesday March 29, noted that those behind the plot to install an interim government are planners of endless violate mass protest in major city of Nigeria and the other using court injunctions to truncate the transition process of transferring power by May 19.

Responding to such plots, the DSS said key planners have been identified and has vowed to use every possible means within its disposal to frustrate and eliminate such plot.

This Online News Media earlier reported that DSS has warned aggrieved politicians and parties to refrain from peddling fake news, hate speech and all forms of false narratives as basis to ignite violence against the President Muhammadu Buhari government or the incoming administration of the President-Elect, Bola Tinubu.

The warning came after the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Festus Keyamo that the DSS invite the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi; and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, over their inciting comments rejection of Tinubu as the President-Elect.

Similarly, the flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar had earlier in March led a protest to the Abuja office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reject the result of the February 25 election declared by the electoral moderate.

Atiku and Obi are challenging the electoral process that gave Tinubu victory on the ground that it lacks credibility, transparency and violates the rules and regulations stipulated in the Electoral Act 2022.

This Online News Media also understand that the DSS the statement on Wednesday did not mention politician but noted that the planners in their meeting have weighed various options including a mass protest to achieve their aim.

“The planners, in their many meetings, have weighed various options, which include, among others, to sponsor endless violent mass protests in major cities to warrant a declaration of State of Emergency. Another is to obtain frivolous court injunctions to forestall the inauguration of new executive administrations and legislative houses at the Federal and State levels.

“The DSS supports the President and Commander-in-Chief in his avowed commitment to a hitch-free handover and will assiduously work in this direction. It also supports the Presidential Transition Council and such other related bodies in the States. It will collaborate with them and sister security and law enforcement agencies to ensure seamless inaugurations come 29th May, 2023.”

The DSS consequently strongly warned those organising to thwart democracy in the country to retract from their devious schemes and orchestrations.
