The Adamawa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Yola has upheld the victory of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

VerseNews reports that the tribunal dismissed the petition filed by Dr. Umar Ardo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who had alleged corrupt practices, threats, and violence during the election.

The tribunal chair, Justice Theodora Uloho, ruled that the petition lacked merit, was defective, and improperly instituted.

Ardo’s counsel stated they would file a petition to challenge the verdict.

Adamawa’s deputy governor hailed the judgment as a victory for democracy and called on petitioners to collaborate with the government in building a new Adamawa.

In the election, Fintiri secured victory with 430,861 votes, while the APC candidate received 398,788 votes.
