The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially confirmed his death, revealing that the actor died following complications from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.
In a statement shared on the actor’s official Instagram page on Wednesday, the family disclosed that Ekubo passed away at Evercare Hospital in Lagos after a brief but difficult battle with the illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, Alexx Ikenna Ekubo-Okwaraeke,” the statement partly read.
According to the family, the actor fought the illness with strength, faith, and hope until his final moments.
“After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer,” the statement added.
The family described his final days as a period marked by resilience and spirituality.
“He bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope, believing that one day his testimony would be shared with the world,” the statement said.
They also appealed to the public for prayers and privacy as they mourn the painful loss.
“During this deeply painful time, we humbly ask for privacy and prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul, and for all who mourn this immense loss,” the family stated.

They added that funeral arrangements and further family announcements would be communicated later.
“Further details regarding funeral arrangements and other family matters will be communicated in due course. We sincerely thank everyone for the love, support, prayers, and understanding extended to the family throughout this period,” the statement concluded.
The death of the 40-year-old actor has continued to generate emotional reactions across the entertainment industry, with fans, celebrities, and colleagues paying tribute to his legacy and contribution to Nollywood.
