The family of late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has officially announced the funeral arrangements for the movie star following his death at the age of 40.

In a statement shared on the actor’s official Instagram page, the family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, prayers and condolences received since news of his death became public.

“Forever in Our Hearts,” the statement began.

“With profound sorrow, yet gratitude to God for a life so beautifully lived and deeply impactful, we officially announce the funeral arrangements of our beloved husband, son, brother, friend, and colleague, Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke.”

The family described the actor as a man whose life was filled with love, generosity, faith and warmth.

According to the statement, the outpouring of support from fans, friends, colleagues and well-wishers has been deeply comforting during the difficult period.

“The overwhelming outpouring of love, prayers, messages, visits, calls, support, and strength shown to the family during this painful period has been truly humbling,” the statement read.

Reflecting on the actor’s personality and impact, the family noted that Alexx Ekubo brought joy and warmth everywhere he went.

“Though his passing came far too soon, Alexx lived a life marked by love, warmth, generosity, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to God and the people he cherished,” the statement added.

According to the funeral schedule released by the family, a service of songs will hold on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Monarch Event Center in Lekki, Lagos, from 4pm to 6pm.

Guests attending the event are expected to wear white.

The wake keep is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 7 Ekubo-Okwaraeke Avenue, Aziukwukwa, Ujari Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.

His funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at Mary Slessor School, Amanagwu Village, Arochukwu, Abia State.

The family invited fans, colleagues, friends and well-wishers to join them in celebrating the actor’s life and legacy.

“We warmly invite family, friends, colleagues, fans, and well-wishers to join us as we honor and celebrate his beautiful life, enduring legacy, and the precious memories he gave us all,” the statement said.

Alexx Ekubo died on Monday, May 11, 2026, after battling an illness for several months.

His death triggered widespread mourning across Nigeria’s entertainment industry, with actors, musicians, broadcasters and public figures paying tribute to his talent, kindness and contribution to Nollywood.
