The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has shifted the responsibility for security onto citizens, urging them not to “gree for terrorists in 2024.”

Addressing journalists in Abuja, VerseNews reports that the Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, delivered a stark message, calling on Nigerians to be vigilant and report criminal activities in their surroundings.

He emphasized, “Make Nigerians no gree for terrorists this year. You see something, you say something, and we assure them of doing something.”

Buba, adopting the trending slang “no gree for anybody,” underscored the military’s focus for 2024: to locate and eradicate terrorists wherever they may be hiding. “Our ongoing operations remain unchanged and clear even in the new year. We aim to find and destroy the terrorists wherever they may be hiding to ensure their enduring defeat,” he declared.

The military’s recent operations have yielded results, with 86 terrorists neutralized and 101 arrested in the last two weeks. Buba also highlighted successes in combating oil theft and rescuing kidnapped hostages.

Despite the military’s commitment, concerns have been raised, notably by the Nigeria Police Force, warning that the slang “no gree for anybody” might have unforeseen consequences.
