Former First Lady Aisha Buhari has paid a visit to former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar in Abuja.

Atiku disclosed the meeting in a post on his social media platforms on Wednesday, September 16, describing Aisha Buhari’s visit as “warm and deeply appreciated.”

According to Atiku, the meeting also served as a reminder of the responsibility facing those seeking to improve the country, particularly the need to prioritise the welfare, dignity and future of Nigerians.

“Today, I was delighted to receive former First Lady, H.E. Aisha Buhari. Her visit was warm and deeply appreciated,” Atiku said.

He added that families across the country were facing increasing pressure from the rising cost of essential goods and services, including food, transportation, education and healthcare.

“Across our country, families are being stretched by the rising cost of food, transport, education, healthcare and other basic necessities,” he said.

Atiku said Nigerians deserved an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunities and enables families to live with dignity and hope.

“Nigerians deserve an economy that rewards hard work, restores opportunity and allows every family to live with dignity and hope,” he stated.

The former Vice-President further said efforts should be directed towards reducing the economic burden on households and restoring hope.

“That is the Nigeria we must build together, a country that works for its people again. We must ease the burden, restore hope and Make Nigeria Affordable Again,” he added.

Aisha Buhari was accompanied by one of her daughters and some associates during the visit. However, neither she nor Atiku publicly disclosed the purpose of the meeting or details of their discussion.

The meeting comes amid increased political activity ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, although the visit itself has not been publicly linked by either party to any specific political arrangement or decision.
