BREAKING: OPC Chieftain Kidnapped While Delivering ₦30 Million Ransom in Kwara

• OPC chieftain Comrade Bayo Fabiyi and two others were reportedly kidnapped in Kwara while transporting ₦30 million, five motorcycles and three bags of rice as ransom for the release of an earlier abducted victim.

Confusion and tension have gripped Oko-Irese community in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State following the abduction of an Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) chieftain, Comrade Bayo Fabiyi, and two other persons.

According to reports, Fabiyi was kidnapped alongside his driver and another associate while on a mission to deliver ransom and other items for the release of a previously abducted victim.

Sources revealed that the team was carrying ₦30 million, five motorcycles and three bags of rice when they were ambushed by armed men in the area.

The three men had reportedly embarked on the journey to secure the freedom of another kidnapped person, but sources later claimed that the victim had already been killed by the kidnappers before the ransom team arrived, a development they were unaware of.

The abductors were said to have directed the team towards a forest along the Kwara-Kogi border before seizing them at gunpoint and taking them to an unknown destination.

Reports also indicated that Fabiyi had allegedly received a spiritual warning advising him against embarking on the trip, but he reportedly ignored the warning and proceeded with the mission.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation of the incident from security agencies.

When contacted, the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, said the command had not received any formal report regarding the alleged kidnapping of the OPC chieftain but assured that an investigation would commence once the matter is officially reported.

The incident has once again highlighted the growing insecurity and rising cases of kidnapping in parts of Kwara State and neighbouring communities.
