  • President Bola Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the “Renewed Hope Ambassador” and Director-General for nationwide political mobilisation, ahead of the Federal Government’s Ward Development Programme launch.

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as the “Renewed Hope Ambassador” to spearhead grassroots mobilisation and political engagement ahead of the national rollout of the Ward Development Programme.

The appointment was announced on Tuesday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled “President Tinubu Appoints Governor Uzodimma As Renewed Hope Ambassador.”

Under his new designation, Uzodimma will also serve as the Director-General for party outreach, engagement, and mobilisation—effectively becoming the chief promoter of the administration’s programmes nationwide.

According to Onanuga, the role takes immediate effect and places Uzodimma at the centre of coordinating efforts between the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership and state governors. He will be responsible for “evangelising the Tinubu administration’s programme,” ensuring strategic communication and harmony across all levels of the party.

Already the chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Uzodimma is expected to work closely with APC governors who will “also be Ambassadors of Hope,” focusing on strengthening grassroots support for ongoing reforms.

The appointment comes ahead of the Federal Government’s nationwide launch of the Ward Development Programme, a flagship initiative under the Renewed Hope Agenda. The programme is designed to channel micro-projects, essential services, and livelihood support directly to all 8,809 electoral wards across the country.

Onanuga noted that President Tinubu expects Uzodimma and other APC leaders to champion the administration’s achievements since assuming office in May 2023, reinforcing the message of Renewed Hope amid public concerns over inflation and the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

Highlighting what it described as signs of economic progress, the Presidency said inflation had eased for seven consecutive months to 16.05% in October, while the exchange rate had stabilised. It added that foreign reserves had climbed to over $46 billion—up from the $32 billion and net reserve of $4 billion inherited in 2023.

The statement further claimed that investor confidence was rising, with increases in foreign direct and portfolio investments, especially in oil and gas, solid minerals, and the stock market. It also cited improvements in the student loan scheme, which has enrolled over 700,000 beneficiaries, and a faster passport processing timeline of under one week.

President Tinubu, in his message to Governor Uzodimma, said the administration’s achievements must be clearly communicated to Nigerians, urging him to lead nationwide efforts to boost awareness and support for ongoing reforms.
