- Nigerian music star Burna Boy and Colombian singer Shakira have collaborated on the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the song titled Dai Dai set for release on May 14.

Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy and Colombian pop icon Shakira have teamed up for the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The song, titled Dai Dai, is scheduled for release on May 14 ahead of the tournament, which will be hosted jointly by Mexico, the United States and Canada.
Shakira announced the collaboration on her social media pages, generating excitement among fans across the world ahead of the global football tournament.
The collaboration marks another major international milestone for Burna Boy, who is set to become the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official FIFA World Cup anthem after Davido.
Davido previously featured on the official soundtrack for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Hayya Hayya (Better Together), alongside American singer Trinidad Cardona and Qatari artist AISHA.
Shakira, one of the most successful Latin music stars globally, is returning to the World Cup stage after recording the iconic 2010 FIFA World Cup anthem Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) for the tournament hosted in South Africa.
According to reports, Dai Dai will blend English and Spanish, combining Burna Boy’s Afro-fusion style with Shakira’s global pop sound.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to be historic for several reasons. It will be the first edition to feature 48 participating countries and will also introduce a halftime show at the final.

Burna Boy’s involvement in the official anthem has further raised expectations that the Nigerian star could perform at the tournament’s final ceremony.
Nigerian artistes have continued to gain global recognition through major football events in recent years. Tems performed at the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, Davido performed during the closing ceremony of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, while Burna Boy thrilled fans at the 2023 UEFA Champions League final in Istanbul.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 11.
Although Nigeria’s Super Eagles failed to qualify for the tournament, Afrobeats is still expected to have a strong presence on football’s biggest stage through Burna Boy’s participation in the official anthem.
