Ogun State Government on Friday announced that it will reward anyone who offers information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of its Director of Finance and Administration, Taiwo Oyekanmi, with the sum of N50 million.

VerseNews reports that Oyekanmi, an accountant in the governor’s office, was murdered in Abeokuta on November 29 by a gang of armed robbers who attacked a bullion van conveying government money.

About five hooded gunmen, reportedly hijacked the bullion van while ascending an overhead bridge at Kuto and opened fire on the accountant.

It was further gathered that the hoodlums, wielding sledge hammers, broke the bullion van door and went away with the money.

Oyekanmi was rushed to the State Hospital in Ijaye, Abeokuta, where he reportedly died.

Remains of the deceased has been buried with Governor Dapo Abiodun giving security agencies a marching order to smoke out the killers.

However, more than one week after the murder, no arrest has been made.

VerseNews gathered that police road blocks have been mounted at short distance to another, causing members of the public to worry.

In the announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, the government promised that information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

It reads “The Ogun State Government has announced a reward of fifty (50) million naira for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of the state’s Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, on 29th November, 2023 in Abeokuta.
