Norway had taken the lead in the 39th minute through Antonio Nusa, who produced a moment of brilliance by cutting in from the left before curling a stunning effort into the top corner.

Ivory Coast responded in the second half after manager Emerse Fae introduced Amad Diallo from the bench. The Manchester United forward made an immediate impact, weaving past defenders before calmly slotting home the equaliser in the 74th minute.

With extra time looming, Haaland once again proved decisive, arriving at the perfect moment to convert Berg’s low cross from six yards out and seal Norway’s historic victory.

The goal also extended Haaland’s remarkable scoring streak to 13 consecutive competitive international matches for Norway and marked his fifth goal in just three World Cup appearances.

Martin Ødegaard also played a key role in the victory, providing the assist for Nusa’s opener and becoming only the third player on record to register an assist in each of his first three World Cup appearances.

Ivory Coast pushed for another equaliser in the closing stages, with Amad Diallo forcing goalkeeper Orjan Nyland into an impressive save from a late free-kick, but Norway held on to secure a memorable win.

Norway will now face Brazil in the Round of 16 on Sunday, July 5, with a place in the World Cup quarter-finals at stake.
