Two close associates of former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua have been confirmed dead following a road accident in Ogun State, Nigeria, on Tuesday.

The victims, identified as Latif—popularly known as Latz—and Sina, were longtime friends and integral members of Joshua’s training team. Latif served as Joshua’s personal trainer, while Sina was his strength and conditioning coach.

Sources reveal that the pair had arrived in Nigeria earlier that day alongside Joshua to spend the New Year holidays with family and friends. The group had also visited Nigeria together during the Christmas holidays last year and were known to frequently travel and spend festive periods together.
