The Federal Government has introduced a new digital platform that enables Nigerians to register births and deaths, apply for birth attestation, correct civil registration records, and verify certificates online.

The platform, launched by the National Population Commission (NPC) and announced by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), is part of the government’s efforts to digitise civil registration services and eliminate the long queues and paperwork previously associated with obtaining birth and death certificates.

According to the NOA, the new self-service portal makes the process faster and more convenient, while citizens who require assistance can still visit any NPC registration centre across the country.

“Getting a birth or death certificate in Nigeria just got easier! You can also visit any NPC registration centre nationwide for assistance,” the agency said.

The agency noted that proper birth and death registration gives citizens a legal identity and improves access to healthcare, education, passports, financial services, and other government programmes.
