Cleric Omakwu has criticised what she described as double standards among men who engage in extramarital relationships but are unwilling to forgive their wives for infidelity.
Speaking in a video shared on her social media page, she addressed adultery, forgiveness and the commitment required to sustain a marriage.
Omakwu said men often struggle to forgive an unfaithful wife, while women are generally more willing to forgive their husbands. She challenged men who maintain relationships outside their marriages to apply the same standards to themselves that they expect their wives to uphold.
“You are double standard because what is good for the goose is good for the gander. If a woman cannot follow a man, you can’t follow a woman.”
The cleric also stressed that choosing a spouse means committing to one person and remaining dedicated to the union through difficult circumstances.
“When you decide to choose one person to marry, it means I have looked at all the men in the world and all the women and I decided you are the one. So come rain, come shine, we are together,” she added.
Her remarks centred on mutual faithfulness, forgiveness and consistency in the expectations husbands and wives place on each other.
