The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the deployment of new Commissioners of Police to eight state commands and several strategic formations across the country as part of efforts to strengthen policing and improve operational effectiveness.

The redeployment, announced in a statement on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, received the approval of the Police Service Commission and is aimed at enhancing leadership across commands while consolidating ongoing police reforms.

Under the new postings, Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo was deployed to Abia State, Ayodeji Faniyan to Plateau, Saka Adewale Ajao to Bayelsa, Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to Cross River, Nanna Oji Ama to Anambra, Patrick Daaor to Edo, Tani Murtala to Jigawa and Samuel Erale to Delta State.

Beyond the state commands, the IGP also approved the deployment of several commissioners to strategic formations, including the Force Intelligence Department, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Department of Finance and Administration, Department of Training and Development, the Police Academy and the Police Staff College.

Among the appointments, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi was posted to the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja, while CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike was deployed to the INTERPOL section of the Force Criminal Investigation Department.

Other affected officers include CP Nelson Nwamana, who was posted to the Police Academy in Kano, CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed to the Police Staff College in Jos, CP Rita Oyintare Oki to the Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos, and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe.

According to the statement, IGP Disu urged the senior officers to bring their wealth of experience to their new assignments by strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing operational efficiency, promoting professionalism and deepening community engagement.

“He urged them to remain steadfast in safeguarding lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability, and service delivery,” the statement said.

The Nigeria Police Force added that the latest redeployment forms part of ongoing reforms aimed at improving internal capacity and enhancing policing services across the country.
