Supporters of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) say diplomatic and advocacy efforts to secure justice for its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, are quietly advancing in the United States, away from public spectacle and media attention.

According to a statement accompanying a circulating video, author and business strategist Mark Faust of Cincinnati, Ohio, was seen in Washington, D.C., alongside Chief Evans Nwankwo of the group Ambassadors for Self-Determination. The engagement was described as part of a coordinated effort carried out under the direction of Kanu to push IPOB’s case within US political and policy circles.

The statement noted that the advocacy focuses on engaging lawmakers, policymakers, and opinion leaders on what IPOB describes as the unlawful detention of Kanu, alleged persecution of Judeo-Christian communities, and the need for a peaceful and lawful resolution to the long-running Biafra self-determination issue.

It further claimed that while large sums are allegedly spent on counter-campaigns and propaganda, sustained advocacy driven by conviction and principle continues to gain ground. IPOB supporters argue that moral pressure and consistent engagement, rather than financial influence, are shaping conversations around the Biafra question in the US.

The group maintained that from local advocacy in American cities to engagements around Capitol Hill, calls for justice and self-determination are increasing, adding that international attention on the matter is growing.
