The remains of 24-year-old Nollywood makeup artist Abigail Fredrick were buried on Monday in her hometown, Ikot Udoma, located in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State

VerseNews recalls that Fredrick was one of the five film crew members, including actor Junior Pope, who tragically lost their lives when their boat capsized on the River Niger last Wednesday.

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State directed that Fredrick’s body be returned to the state for a proper burial after reports indicated she had been initially buried near the riverbank.

As a result of the governor’s order, her body was exhumed on Sunday, April 14, 2024, and a candlelight procession was held in her honor.
