- Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi spotted shopping at a supermarket, where he bought personal items and interacted with customers and staff, months after his viral visit to an Abuja market.

Former Anambra State Governor and National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has once again attracted public attention after he was spotted shopping at a branch of H-Medix Supermarket on Saturday.
Photos from the visit were shared on X by his former 2023 presidential campaign photographer, Esther Umoh, who said Obi stopped by the supermarket to purchase a few personal items before spending time interacting with staff and fellow shoppers.
“Peter Obi today stopped by a branch of H-Medix Supermarket to pick up a few personal items,” Umoh wrote.
She added that the visit reflected Obi’s habit of staying connected to the everyday experiences of ordinary Nigerians.
“By experiencing the same markets, prices, and economic conditions as everyone else, he gains a firsthand understanding of the challenges families face daily,” she said.
According to Umoh, the former presidential candidate also took time to chat with employees and customers during the visit, with several people taking photos with him.
“He also took out time to interact warmly with members of staff and fellow shoppers. A reminder that leadership is ultimately about staying connected to the people you serve,” she added.
Obi served as Governor of Anambra State from 2006 to 2014.
He was the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election and is currently the presidential candidate of the NDC ahead of the 2027 election.
The latest outing comes months after Obi went viral for visiting Utako Market in Abuja, where he was seen buying groundnuts, a move that generated widespread reactions on social media.
Known for his relatively modest public lifestyle, Obi’s market and shopping visits have often drawn praise from supporters, who view them as a reflection of his accessibility and connection with ordinary Nigerians.
