First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger, evidence-based policies to protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse as the world marks the 2025 World Day for the Prevention of and Healing from Child Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse.

VerseNews reports that in a statement released on Tuesday, the First Lady said the 2025 theme, “Strengthening the Protection of Children Against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse Through Evidence-Based Policy Making,” underscores the need for action backed by research, accurate data, and effective implementation rather than mere expressions of concern.

She noted that children’s safety requires deliberate and data-driven measures to keep them secure in their homes, schools, communities, and places of worship.

“As a nation, we must ensure that every child grows up free from fear and harm,” she said, calling for stronger collaboration among government institutions, civil society organisations, religious and traditional leaders, parents, and young people.
