A suspected Boko Haram informant has allegedly confessed to spying on the movement of Nigerian troops and providing logistics support to terrorists operating in northern Borno State.

The development was disclosed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post shared on X, citing security sources familiar with the operation.

According to the report, the suspect, identified as Muhammad Mustapha, 25, from Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State, was arrested on July 16 during a night patrol and identification exercise conducted by troops of Operation HADIN KAI.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted to belonging to a Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) cell operating around the Kadia area, north of Mairari town.
