Nigerian President Bola Tinubu stumbled and fell during the June 12 Democracy Day parade, sparking renewed concerns about his health.

The State House has yet to comment on his condition following the incident.

President Bola Tinubu stumbled and fell while climbing into the back of a parade vehicle at Eagle Square on Wednesday, during the June 12 Democracy Day commemoration.

The incident, captured on video, showed Tinubu falling face down. It remains unclear whether his fall was due to getting tangled in his flowing agbada or possible health issues affecting his gait.

Despite the presence of guards, they were unable to prevent the Nigerian president from hitting the floor of the vehicle.

Leading up to the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu addressed concerns about his health, saying, “If you hear them saying, can I do it? I am not applying for the job of a grave digger; not race running, I am not a horse.

I am not applying for bricklaying. I went to school to study accountancy and management. I am applying for a job of the brain; intelligent thinking; it is a job for someone who is ready to do things right. I will not let Nigerians down. I have the brain and capacity.”

Previously, Tinubu spent three months in a London hospital for knee surgery and subsequent rehabilitation.

A video published by Peoples Gazette showing Tinubu’s dress soaked from behind prompted fresh criticism, with some Nigerians suggesting he may be suffering from urinary incontinence. Rauf Aregbesola, then-minister of interior and Tinubu’s estranged protégé, mocked him at a political rally, using the Yoruba expression “won ti n to ara,” meaning “they’re already urinating on themselves.”

The State House did not immediately respond to requests for comments regarding the president’s condition after the fall.
