‘They Say There Are No Jobs, But Have They Asked?’ – Remi Tinubu Tells Nigerian Youths to Seek Opportunities in Govt Ministries

• First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged Nigerian youths to actively seek opportunities in government ministries and agencies instead of assuming there are no jobs.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has urged young Nigerians to actively seek opportunities in government ministries, departments and agencies instead of assuming that jobs do not exist.

Speaking during a meeting with the wives of the 36 state governors at the State House in Abuja, Mrs Tinubu said many government programmes and opportunities are available but remain underutilised because many young people do not seek information about them.

“We have to inform the youth. They say there are no jobs. Have you visited any ministry to ask what they have for the people? They can go there and ask, ‘What do you have for us? What can I key into?’”

The First Lady also defended the economic reforms of President Bola Tinubu, describing them as difficult but necessary measures aimed at laying a solid foundation for future generations.

According to her, policies such as the removal of fuel subsidy were implemented to reposition Nigeria for long-term growth and sustainable development.

“What we are doing in this administration is to make sure that even generations unborn would benefit.”

Mrs Tinubu acknowledged that the reforms initially brought hardships to many Nigerians but insisted that the country is gradually making progress.

She also highlighted the achievements of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), including scholarships, business grants, healthcare interventions, ICT training programmes and support for vulnerable groups.

The First Lady further called on Nigerians not to lose faith in the country, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future and urging citizens to embrace agriculture, innovation and self-reliance.

“We have to renew our hope. Nigerians should not give up. We are a very proud nation and we have what it takes.”

Mrs Tinubu also stressed the need to tackle child malnutrition, insisting that no Nigerian child should go hungry and unveiling plans to expand National Food Banks and nutrition support programmes across the country.
