Founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has strongly criticised the proposed amendment to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Act, which seeks to impose a ₦50,000 fine on individuals who preach in commercial buses.

Speaking during a recent sermon at Faith Tabernacle, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun State, Oyedepo questioned why the government was focusing on regulating bus preaching while insecurity and killings continue across the country.

His remarks come amid widespread debate over the FRSC Act (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The Senate has maintained that the provision has existed since the FRSC Establishment Act of 2007 and that the amendment is aimed at improving the safety and comfort of commuters rather than targeting religious activities.

Reacting to the proposal, Oyedepo said the government should be more concerned about tackling the country’s worsening insecurity than introducing penalties for preaching in public transport.

“You mean they kill people every day and government is pretending not to know what to do?”

The cleric lamented what he described as the government’s silence over the continuous loss of lives, saying he had yet to hear any strong official condemnation of the killings.

“I have not heard any statement from government quarters against the killings. I’m yet to hear one, sir. Our human life is not of value anymore?”

He also declared that he would rather pray against those sponsoring violence than pray for them.

“Woe to all destructive agents in Nigeria. Whether in power or out of power, judgement has finally come.”

“Every sponsor of killers in Nigeria, you come under a curse today.”

Referring to the proposed fine for preaching in buses, Oyedepo asked:

“And now you mustn’t preach in the bus, is that an issue?”

The renowned preacher said he had remained silent for a long time but believes divine justice will eventually prevail.

“When you see God keep quiet at the wickedness of the wicked, it’s because the bubble is about to burst.”

“As the Lord lives… this bubble will burst. Go and hide anywhere. The bubble will burst.”

His comments have since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians weighing in on the controversy surrounding the proposed legislation and the country’s security challenges.
