His plea comes after a recent jail sentence for Bobrisky and charges against Cubana Chief Priest for similar currency misuse.
Street-pop musician Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, has requested forgiveness from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for distributing money to his fans.
VerseNews reports that the appeal comes in the wake of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, receiving a six-month jail sentence for a similar offense involving naira mutilation.
Portable’s plea also follows the EFCC’s filing of charges against Cubana Chief Priest for alleged currency misuse.
In a Tuesday Instagram live session observed by this Online News Platform, Portable encouraged his followers to open bank accounts and announced he would only make transfers from now on.
He said, “I didn’t deface the Naira.
“I help a lot of people; after God na government, please forgive me if you have videos of me spraying money, no more spraying of money.
“My fans, if I no longer spray money, after God na government, no more spraying of money.
”If it’s about money, open bank accounts, and let’s make transfers.”
The commission has also said it is investigating several celebrities who may have been involved in currency abuse.
