Man Utd Woes Continue in Pre-Season Disappointment Against Leeds
Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United played out a goalless draw with Leeds United in their first pre-season game.
Manchester United’s early preparations for the 2025–26 season got off to a frustrating start as they were held to a 0-0 draw by newly-promoted Leeds United in a low-key pre-season friendly in Sweden on Saturday.
Leeds looked the sharper of the two sides in the first half, displaying energy, cohesion, and attacking intent, while United struggled to find rhythm. Rúben Amorim’s side needed a reset at halftime to spark any real urgency, with the second-half performance showing greater purpose and aggression.
Kobbie Mainoo came closest to breaking the deadlock, striking the crossbar late on, but both sides failed to convert half-chances into anything decisive.

New United signings Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon made their debuts, with Leon offering some promise in midfield while Cunha had a quiet outing. Leeds also handed a debut to Lukas Nmecha, who looked lively leading the line.
Chido Obi started up front for United but was replaced at halftime by Rasmus Højlund, underscoring the Red Devils’ ongoing need for a reliable top-class striker. Despite flashes of improvement, United’s attacking issues remain unresolved.
Leeds will take heart from their first-half dominance, while Amorim will be left with more questions than answers after another underwhelming attacking display from his side. The result extends a concerning pattern for United as they look to build momentum heading into the new campaign.
