The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has directed all international airlines to enforce the “$10,000 currency declaration” rule for inbound passengers, aiming to boost anti-money laundering compliance.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has directed all international airlines operating in the country to strictly enforce the “$10,000 currency declaration” requirement for inbound passengers.

In a directive dated April 24, 2025, the NCAA highlighted concerns over non-compliance with existing financial disclosure laws and called for immediate action.

According to NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu, the measure is part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s anti-money laundering framework and align with global financial transparency standards.
“The directive is aimed at closing loopholes and ensuring full compliance with international best practices,” Achimugu stated on Tuesday.
