‘Agreement Is Agreement’, Keyamo Tells Adeleke After Osun Election Victory

• Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in Osun State, describing the victory as historic while praising the governor for endorsing President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election, describing the victory as historic.

Keyamo, in two separate posts on X on Sunday, joined other political figures in congratulating Adeleke after he emerged victorious in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday.

The minister also highlighted Adeleke’s public endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election, stressing the importance of honouring political agreements.

Keyamo wrote:

“Huge congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke on his historic victory in the governorship election in Osun State.

He added:

“Thank you, Governor Ademola Adeleke, for the public and unequivocal endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT for the 2027 Presidential Election. You are a man of integrity and honour. ‘Agreement is agreement.”

The minister’s comment comes after Adeleke publicly endorsed Tinubu for another term in office following his victory in the Osun governorship election.

Adeleke Wins Osun Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier declared Adeleke the winner of the election.

The State Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, announced the final result at about 7:24am on Sunday.

Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who scored 444,815 votes.

The final result showed Adeleke winning by a margin of 66,252 votes.

Declaring the result, Ogunwole announced the total votes recorded by all 15 political parties that participated in the election:

“Accredited voters, 1,010,684, total votes received by political parties, A, 511,067, AA, 2,308, AAC, 1,458, ADC, 17,180, ADP, 2,946, APC, 444,815, APGA, 1,475, APM, 234, APP, 114, BP, 111, NNPP, 118, PRP, 83, SDP, 155, YPP, 534, ZLP, 2,482, total valid votes, 985,079, rejected votes, 207, total vote cast, 1,005,800.”

Adeleke secured victory in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11 LGAs.

The governor’s re-election has triggered congratulatory messages from political leaders and groups across the country.

Keyamo’s message, however, stood out for its reference to Adeleke’s endorsement of Tinubu’s 2027 presidential ambition, with the minister stressing that the political understanding between the two leaders should be respected.

The development has also generated discussion about the political implications of Adeleke’s endorsement ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
