Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, says the South-East will produce Nigeria’s President in the future but not in 2027, urging the region to support President Tinubu’s re-election and praising his inclusive infrastructure efforts.

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has said that while the South-East will produce Nigeria’s President someday, it will not happen in 2027.

In a statement, Umahi urged people from the region to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, noting that the current administration is committed to inclusive national development.

He made the remarks in response to an online publication titled “The Politics of Asphalt: Why is the South East Missing from the Map?” which he described as “misleading and inaccurate”, alleging it was an attempt to portray the Tinubu-led government as neglecting the South-East.

“I understand that politics is now in the air and the chosen path by some persons is to deceive unsuspecting members of the public,” he said. “They pretend to fight for the people while ignoring the great and selfless infrastructure development Mr. President is doing all over the nation.”
