Dangote Petroleum Refinery has released a nationwide hotline for consumers to report MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations selling petrol above the approved pump price of ₦739 per litre.

The refinery said the toll-free line, 0800 123 5264, allows Nigerians to report pricing violations at MRS outlets across the country. MRS Oil Nigeria Plc is one of the distributors retailing petrol supplied by the Dangote refinery.

The move follows the refinery’s recent rollout of nationwide petrol sales at ₦739 per litre, a pricing initiative aimed at curbing high fuel costs and improving price stability, especially during the festive season.

In a statement, the refinery urged Nigerians to avoid buying petrol above the approved price when locally refined fuel is available at a lower cost.

“We encourage Nigerians to report any MRS station selling PMS above ₦739 per litre,” the company said, noting that the initiative is designed to promote transparency and protect consumers.

The refinery also assured the public of adequate supply, stating that it has the capacity to produce about 50 million litres of petrol daily. It warned against attempts by marketers to exploit the price reduction by creating artificial scarcity.

Dangote further called on regulatory agencies to closely monitor compliance and take decisive action against filling stations found violating pricing guidelines.

Energy experts say the refinery’s intervention could reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported fuel and ease pressure on foreign exchange demand. However, they stressed that effective enforcement will be crucial to ensuring price compliance at retail outlets nationwide.

Consumers were again advised to report suspected violations and resist purchasing petrol above the approved pump price.
