Five dismissed police officers, including former Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Usman Nuhu, have pleaded not guilty to charges arising from the alleged extra-judicial killing of 28-year-old Warri musician Oghenemine Ogidi, popularly known as “OG Million.”

The former officers were arraigned before the Delta State High Court in Asaba on Tuesday over the April 26 incident that sparked widespread outrage after a video of the shooting circulated online.

ASP Nuhu, also known as “Ogbegbe,” is facing a charge of murder, while the four other dismissed officers are standing trial on charges of “Negligent Acts Causing Harm.”

Following their not-guilty pleas, Justice M. Nduka adjourned the matter until July 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial.

Speaking after the arraignment, Delta State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ekemejero Ohwovoriole (SAN), said the prosecution was ready to proceed with the case.

“The defendants have been arraigned and have taken their pleas, as they are entitled to do. They pleaded not guilty, but our case is very straightforward. Nobody has the right to make himself the accuser, the judge and the executioner,” he said.

Describing the incident as “abhorrent,” the Attorney-General assured the public that justice would be pursued diligently.

“We are fully prepared for the trial. I assure the public that justice will be served,” he added.

Counsel representing two of the defendants also confirmed their readiness for trial.

The late musician, “OG Million,” was reportedly shot dead at the Effurun Main Motor Park after he was allegedly caught attempting to send a parcel containing a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition. A viral video of the incident showed him restrained with his hands tied behind his back before he was fatally shot, triggering nationwide condemnation.
