France winger Michael Olise has climbed to the top of the assist rankings at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after producing another outstanding performance in Les Bleus’ 3-0 victory over Sweden in the Round of 32.
The Bayern Munich star provided two assists in the second half to take his tournament tally to five assists, the highest by any player at the competition so far.
Olise also came close to scoring his first World Cup goal before halftime, but his spectacular bicycle kick struck the post.
With five assists, the 24-year-old has now recorded the most assists by any player in a single World Cup campaign since 1994, highlighting his crucial role in France’s march into the Round of 16.
Despite Olise’s brilliance, teammate Kylian Mbappé grabbed the headlines with a brace against Sweden, drawing level with Lionel Messi in the race for the tournament’s Golden Boot.
France will now face Paraguay in the Round of 16 as they continue their quest for World Cup glory.
