The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the winner for a second term of the March 18 governorship election in the state.
VerseNews Nigeria reports that INEC made the declaration at around 1:15a.m on Monday morning after the collation of results from the 20 Local Government Area (LGA) of the state
According to the result announced, Sanwo-Olu polled a total of 762,134 votes to defeat Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Adediran better known as Jandor.
GRV came second with a total of 312,329 votes and Jandor came third with a total 62, 449 votes to come second and third respectively.

This Online News Media reports that the election in the state records a high election violence, intimidation, oppression and thug activities.
The state Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa before the election had assured Lagosians that security personnel deployed for the election were responding promptly to the cases.
He confirmed the election violence, snatching of ballot papers and said there have been lots of arrest and recoveries.
GRV had described the election process as a sham and vowed to fight back to defend the votes by his supporters.
