The embattled Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, Prince Adeyemi Matthew Adeniyi, has claimed he personally lobbied officials at the Budget Office in a bid to secure the inclusion of the controversial agency in the 2026 Federal Government budget.

Adeniyi made the claims during an interview with social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, following his arrest over allegations of operating a fictitious government agency.

According to Adeniyi, he first approached the Budget Office in December 2024 to seek funding for the agency in the 2025 budget but was informed that the appropriation process had already closed.

He alleged that officials later advised him to pursue the proposal for the 2026 budget and claimed a female official facilitated meetings with senior Budget Office personnel who assured him the proposal would be considered.

Adeniyi denied paying bribes to any official, insisting that he only promised to offer employment opportunities if the agency became operational.

He also claimed he was unaware that the agency had eventually been allocated about ₦1.3 billion in the 2026 Appropriation Act, saying he had already been arrested and was facing trial when the budget was passed.

The embattled official further denied ever meeting the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, maintaining that all his dealings were handled by his late associate, Dolapo Tanimola.

During the interview, Adeniyi also alleged that he paid $400 million through Tanimola in connection with his purported appointment, although he did not provide evidence to support the claim.

In the caption accompanying the interview, VeryDarkMan called for a wider investigation into the Budget Office and other government institutions, arguing that Adeniyi should not be the only person held accountable if his allegations are proven.

The claims made during the interview have not been independently verified, while the officials and institutions mentioned have yet to publicly respond.

Adeniyi is currently facing charges of forgery and impersonation over allegations that he operated a non-existent government agency using forged documents. Despite the Presidency describing him as an impostor, the alleged agency later appeared in the 2026 federal budget with a ₦1.3 billion allocation, triggering public outrage and calls for a thorough investigation.
