The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed deep condolences to its vice-presidential candidate and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi, who passed away at the age of 89.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the late matriarch as a remarkable woman whose love, guidance and unwavering support helped shape generations.
The opposition party also extended its sympathies to the entire Amaechi family, praying that they find strength and comfort during this difficult period.
According to the ADC, a mother’s greatest legacy is reflected in the values she instills, the sacrifices she makes and the lives she positively influences.
“The African Democratic Congress extends its deepest condolences to our Vice Presidential Candidate, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, CON, on the passing of his beloved mother, Mrs. Mary Amaechi.
“We also extend our sympathies to the entire Amaechi family as they mourn the loss of a matriarch whose love, guidance and strength helped shape generations,” the statement read.
The party added that although the pain of losing a mother cannot be measured, the family should find solace in the memories of a life well lived and in the prayers of Nigerians mourning with them.
“A mother’s influence reaches far beyond the walls of her home. It is reflected in the values she imparts, the sacrifices she makes, and the lives she leaves better than she found them.
“While the pain of such a loss cannot be measured, we hope the Amaechi family will find comfort in a life well lived, in cherished memories, and in the prayers of millions of Nigerians who mourn with them today.”
On behalf of its National Chairman, Senator David Mark, the National Working Committee and party members across the country, the ADC prayed for the peaceful repose of Mary Amaechi’s soul and asked God to grant her family strength, comfort and peace in the days ahead.
The condolence message comes as political leaders, associates and supporters continue to pay tribute to the late Mary Amaechi, whose passing has drawn sympathies from across Nigeria’s political landscape.
