- Primate Elijah Ayodele has warned that bandits may attempt to block the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in July or August.

The Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has raised concerns over a possible security threat on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, warning that bandits may attempt to block the major highway in the coming weeks.
Speaking during a Sunday service at the church’s headquarters, the cleric said he foresaw an incident that could occur in either July or August and urged security agencies to pay close attention to the warning.
“Ibadan. Lagos-Ibadan Express Road. July/August, I do not know the precise time. Bandits will block the road. Lagos-Ibadan Express Road. They will block the road. So the security agencies should note this,” Ayodele said.
The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway is one of Nigeria’s busiest highways, serving as a major link between Lagos and several South-West states as well as parts of northern Nigeria.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Nigeria Police Force nor the Federal Government had issued any official security advisory in response to the cleric’s prediction.
Ayodele’s warning comes amid growing concerns over insecurity and the spread of kidnapping and banditry to parts of the South-West.
Only weeks ago, suspected bandits abducted dozens of pupils and teachers during coordinated attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, raising fresh fears about the activities of criminal groups in the region.
The cleric had also recently criticised the Federal Government over the country’s security situation, accusing authorities of failing in their constitutional responsibility to adequately protect citizens and their property.
