The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday ordered the remand of African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, in Kuje Correctional Centre.

Justice Mohammed Umar directed that Sowore be kept in custody pending the hearing and determination of his application seeking a stay of the court’s earlier decision revoking his bail and issuing a bench warrant against him.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter until June 24 for the hearing of the application filed by Sowore’s new lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika.

Justice Umar had on June 16 revoked Sowore’s bail and issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear in court for the continuation of his trial, where he was expected to open his defence.

Sowore had previously opted to represent himself in the case after his legal team withdrew from the proceedings.
