President Bola Ahmed Tinubu

President Tinubu’s advisor confirms his current presence in Europe and announces his return to Nigeria tomorrow, addressing concerns over his whereabouts.

Tinubu’s unexpected trip to London after a Saudi Arabian forum sparked speculation, but the presidential aide clarifies his itinerary and reassures the public.

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has verified that the Nigerian leader is currently in Europe.

VerseNews reports that Onanuga, in a recent post on Tuesday, assured that President Tinubu is set to return to Nigeria tomorrow, Wednesday, 8th May.

In his announcement on the X platform, Onanuga stated, “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, along with his aides, will return to Nigeria tomorrow from Europe.”

This clarification from the presidential media aide comes in response to various concerns raised by Nigerians regarding President Tinubu’s whereabouts.

Recalling his attendance at the World Economic Forum in Riyadh from April 28-29, President Bola Tinubu left Saudi Arabia thereafter with expectations of returning to Nigeria. However, his delayed return prompted speculations about his location.

Reports from Sahara Reporters suggested that after departing Riyadh, President Tinubu made an unexpected trip to London, England. The news of his journey to London was unanticipated, as his media adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, had not mentioned any planned visit to the UK in his previous statement.

According to the news platform, Tinubu’s departure from Riyadh International Airport occurred at 12:05 am (02:05 am Saudi Arabian time), with his arrival at Stansted Airport, London, at 06:35 am UK time.

The presidential aircraft used for the journey was a Gulfstream Aerospace GV-SP (G550) with registration number 5N-FGW, and the trip lasted 6 hours and 30 minutes.

A senior Nigerian Air Force officer clarified that during the trip, the aircraft was operated as “Nigerian Air Force 1,” indicating the presence of the President on board. This naming convention ensures special treatment and avoids confusion with other planes in the area, highlighting the importance of the President’s safety and security during travel.

While the presidency did not immediately confirm or deny Tinubu’s purported trip to London, Onanuga’s recent confirmation implies that the President and his aides are scheduled to return to Nigeria on Wednesday.
